2nd Shift Industrial Foreman

Directs and coordinates activities of production department in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products to meet customer deliveries.
• Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.
• Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Operations Manager for action.
• Responsible for directing activities of all personnel assigned to specific area, including hiring, salary actions, performance reviews, disciplinary action and safety.
• Utilizes skills to constantly pursue improvements in labor, materials and overhead that will create cost reductions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade
• 1-5 years’ experience as a leader directing larger groups
• Extensive knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and use, and OSH guidelines
• Understanding of use and maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints and convey this information to others
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate and report effectively
• Aptitude in math and strong problem-solving abilities
• Good physical condition and stamina

Working Conditions

Mostly standing work. Continuously lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.  Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. (Lifting more than 50 lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work and simple grasping. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and kneeling with occasional crawling and twisting.  Periodic travel may be involved.  As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear.
