SALARY:   $60,944.00 - $74,193.60 Annually

The City of Blue Ash is seeking candidates to fill a Full-Time BLUE ASH SPORTS CENTER MANAGER position within the Parks & Grounds Maintenance Department.  Be a part of one of the leaders in municipal green space care and oversee the beautiful 37-acre multi-sport complex serving the community through youth, adult, competitive and recreational sports competitions.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Lead (FT) staff member at the complex responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating a team of (PT) staff while working side by side with them in order to maintain, schedule and supervise the complex. Reports to the Parks and Grounds Superintendent.
  • Provides excellent customer service to community organizations, renters and spectators. Trains staff on customer service standards, conflict resolution, facility procedures and maintenance skills.
  • Works closely with numerous community groups and private organizations to organize, review and schedule all bookings taking place within the facility. Utilizes web-based software program for this task which includes creating bookings, communicating schedules, communicating confirmations and managing invoices/payments.
  • Prescribes, manages and oversees the complete field maintenance program. Includes, but not limited to sports field turf grass, synthetic turf, infields and supportive infrastructure such as netting, fencing and field equipment.
  • Maintains landscapes and hardscapes throughout the facility including annual beds and surfaces.
  • Diagnoses plant nutrition and pest control needs including proper applications of fertilization and herbicides as well as documentation of appropriate record-keeping according to Local, State, and Federal guidelines.
  • Operates hand/power tools as well as heavy equipment necessary to complete projects such as, but not limited to, loaders, tillers, seeders, aerators and mowers.
  • Assists in snow removal utilizing brushes, blowers, and walk-behind snow machines on walkways/drives as well as plow vehicles (non-CDL) in parking lots and on roadways.
  • Oversees staff safety requirements, ensuring that all staff are properly trained in their areas as well as on all necessary equipment.
  • Continually develops and motivates staff members through trainings, evaluations, and regularly scheduled mentor opportunities to excel their development and advancement.
  • Prioritizes, prepares and assigns daily and weekly work schedules.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exemplary customer service, strong organization and computer skills, positive attitude and ability to work with a team.
  • Must have the ability to work outdoors under different weather conditions for extended periods of time. Will be expected to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk up to 6+ hours during a shift.
  • Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and a comprehensive background check. Must possess valid Driver License.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's and/or Associate's degree from an accredited College or University in Horticulture, landscape construction, Sports Management or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Experience with automatic irrigation systems and ability to follow landscape and irrigation plans.
  • Ohio Commercial Applicator License or the ability to obtain one in the first 6-months:
    • Core - 6A Ornamental Pests - 5 Industrial Vegetation - 8 Turf Pests
  • Preferred: Minimum 5-years of experience in the field.
