Description
The Lab Tech is qualified in programming and operation of environmental test chambers and vibration tables and responsible for performing testing on samples for purposes such as quantitative analysis, quality control, and process control. He/ she is also responsible for general maintenance of laboratory equipment and the physical maintenance of the laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Must have vibration testing experience and is responsible for all aspects associated with testing.
• Responsible for direct interface with the customer.
• Responsible for providing quotes.
• Work on several small to medium projects or one large project
• Work is performed with general supervision involving occasional interaction to surpass hurdles
• Manages more complex projects
• Mastered at least one specific type of testing
• Highly qualified in programming and operation of environmental test chambers and vibration tables
• Responsible for reporting any and all anomalies to the laboratory Manager
• Responsible for notifying Laboratory Manager or Operations Manager and the Quality Manager of any actual or suspected out of calibration conditions in the laboratory
Other responsibilities
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to general audiences
- Responsible for receiving inspection/part segregation as required
- Responsible for packaging/shipping and general equipment maintenance, as required
- Responsible for initiation of NOA’s CAR’s
- Responsible for fixture modification, when required
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Must be detailed oriented and understand the importance of accuracy
Strong Technical abilities
Work in a team environment and be safety oriented
Strong Written and Oral communication skills
Current working knowledge of MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel and Word) and web based applications ( SAP, SharePoint, E-Procurement)
High School Diploma or GED
Associate’s or higher degree in science related field
5-10 years’ experience
Working Conditions
Mostly stationary work with occasional movement throughout the facility to access files, chambers, office machinery, etc. Works at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Employee must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs. Use of hands to hold, lift and handle materials. Occasional climbing, bending and squatting. Periodic travel may be involved. When traveling, significant portions of travel time (both car and air) may involve extended sedentary periods. Subject to
weather and adverse driving conditions when outside.
