Description

Responsibility:            Provides patient services per certification protocol that will help create, drive, and support company’s culture, customer service and operational goals including but not limited to the following:

 

  • Provides medical assistance during emergency situations, such as CPR, AED, prevent shock, control severe bleeding, prevent spinal damage, administers intravenous medications, drips, and oxygen, performs endotracheal intubations (only EMT-P),

etc. per Ohio Scope of Practice

  • Evaluates patient condition to determine the right course of treatment
  • Monitor patient’s condition and keep it stable while en route to the hospital
  • Aids in the transfer of patients to various locations being extended care facilities, hospitals, doctors’ offices or other patient locations
  • Provides an accurate patient care report and take notes of the medical treatment given to the patient
  • Keeps equipment clean after use; check and replace damaged and used supplies
  • Decontaminates the interior of the ambulance
  • Follows and maintains local GMVEMSC protocol
  • Follows Ohio Dept. of Public Safety Board Scope of Practice
  • Follows Ohio Medical Transport documentation process in completing run sheets, physician cert forms, drug bag policy, vehicle checkoff form completion as deemed necessary
  • Completes all continuing education/certification training to remain compliant
  • Communicates with dispatch/scheduling team to confirm location, patient status updates and needs related to current transport situations
  • Complies with communication standards by keeping phone system active and available at all times

 

  • Follows guidelines of Ohio Medical Transport Employee Policies & Procedures
  • Including customer service expectations, attendance policies and uniform policy

 

 

Job Requirements

Paramedic Prerequisites

High school diploma or the equivalent and
CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification
Current EMS Certification
Current ACLS Certification
Optional: PALS, ITLS, Certification
Valid Driver’s License
Conflict resolution skills
Ability to communicate both verbally and through written documentation
Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting and standing within a Medic unit
Requires manual dexterity needed for using a calculator and computer keyboard.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium and heavy weights based on patient transport needs
