Description
Job Title: Senior Accountant
Reports To: President/Managing Director
Job Purpose
The Schunk of North America (SNA) Senior Accountant is to coordinate all financial transactions and activity for the business. In addition, the Senior Accountant is a liaison with each of the SNA subsidiaries.
Authority Statement
The position listed empowers the Incumbent with the authority to execute all duties and responsibility listed below. In the event of a conflict of authority, the Incumbent shall elevate to the President/Managing Director (MD) for resolution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The position is responsible for reporting financial results and current economic conditions of the business to MD or others designated by MD.
- Maintain and manage all banking and cash management, including SNA & subsidiary credit cards, coordination with Parent Company loan payments and intercompany activity.
- Initiate, approve and release banking template, wires and ACHs, based on the segregation of duties policies established by the Parent Company.
- Establish secondary banking initiators, approvers and release wire employees.
- Overall management of the financial systems and internal controls for the holding company.
- Assist with securing, planning and managing the annual holding company audits and tax return preparation.
- Assist with transfer pricing and research & development tax credit projects.
- Will assist in advisement to management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
- Financial - Perform the holding company’s month-end closings, year-end closings, and quarterly CBII activities.
- Send the monthly interest billings to the SNA companies.
- Assist in the approval process of all intercompany loans.
- Help develop the annual Budget generation, P&L/Balance Sheet/Cash Flows
- Payroll - The SNA payroll should be managed by the SNA accountant.
- Timekeeping and running of the payroll for SNA.
- The HR personnel counts for Germany should be submitted by the SNA accountant.
- Prepare journal entries for payroll for SNA and WNA (Weiss Technik North America (Grand Rapids and Cincinnati)).
- Benefits - The SNA and WNA benefit allocation should be managed by the SNA accountant.
- Prepare journal entries for benefits for SNA and WNA (Weiss Technik North America (Grand Rapids and Cincinnati)).
- 401k Plan - The 401K administration should be managed by the accountant.
- The annual audit of the plan needs to be managed by the SNA accountant.
- Approve terminations and withdraws.
- Manage Group insurance portfolio renewals/claims and billings for SNA and WNA.
- Work with HR administration to administer benefits for the SNA team.
- Approval of the Vendor Master changes for all SNA companies.
- Other assignments from MD.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills (oral and written)
- Accounting or Finance Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 5-7 years’ experience in related field
- MBA and/or advanced degree a plus
- Experience in communicating and making presentations to management
- Ensure compliance to Schunk Group policies, guidelines and regulations.
Working Conditions
Mostly stationary work with occasional movement throughout facilities to access files, chambers, office machinery, etc. Works at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Some travel time (both car and air) may be involved.
