Log Buyer/Special Territory

In collaboration with the Log Yard Manager and sales force, the Log Buyer will learn the different species and grades of the Logs that is needed for our customers. Key responsibilities include:
• Represent and promote our company in your area
• Develop suppliers / producers and visit regularly
• Obtain from the log yard a current log/species requirement list
• Purchase logs to fulfill our needs
• Negotiate prices
• Be persistent
• Inform/Report of visits and results
• Provide accurate log tally sheets
• Arrange transportation

• High School Degree
• College Degree in Forestry a plus
• 5 years experience in timber or log buying
• Possess a valid Driver’s License
• Have the ability and willingness to drive long distances as required
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to negotiate supply/purchase contracts
• Attention to detail/paperwork
• Persistence
• Travel
