The Workforce Services department at Butler Tech works hard to connect you with industry partners. These connections can help create long-lasting business relationships. Part of our commitment to helping you succeed is through forging relationships with those companies. We do this through our robust district Business Advisory Committee, though offering companies customized tours of our campuses, and through attending local chamber of commerce meetings every month.
Every time we meet with a potential business partner, we have you in mind. Our goal is to connect you with as many partners as possible. We know that building a strong advisory board is an important part of a high-quality classroom. That’s why we believe connection is key.
Finding a mentor for your work based learning experience can feel overwhelming sometimes. We get that and are happy to help!
Simply submit a mentor request through our Mentor Match portal and we will work hard to connect you with a subject matter expert in that area. When you fill out the request please be as detailed as possible so that we can get start searching immediately.

The Workforce Services department at Butler Tech works hard to connect work based learning classroom experiences with business mentors who provide feedback and evaluation to our students.
Butler Tech partners with local unions that offer apprenticeship opportunities. Once a year these organizations come together to meet our students and teach them about apprenticeships.
Businesses need a talented workforce that has a good balance of soft skills and technical talent. We can help! Butler Tech is exceptional at training students to become successful employees.
Beginning as early as grade 9, students should accumulate 250 hours of work-based learning aligned to their programs of study or their student success or graduation plans, with evidence of positive evaluations. Students may accumulate hours across multiple types of work-based learning experiences.
The instructor must have communication with the business partner.
The WBL experience must be connected to multiple core learning standards in the course/program curriculum.
A signed learning agreement must be completed.
Students must receive feedback from the supervisor, business partner, or instructor.
Students must log hours in Quickbase.
Teachers need to review all reported hours at least every two weeks.
Plan and Prepare: Develop a WBL plan that aligns with curriculum goals and student learning objectives.
Integrate into Curriculum: Embed WBL activities into classroom lessons and projects.
Supervise and Support: Provide ongoing supervision and support to students and industry partners.
Evaluate and Reflect: Mentor or business partner assesses student performance and students reflect on the WBL experience to improve future implementation.

Supervision: Monitor student progress and provide guidance and support.
Quality Benchmark Assurance and Hour Approval: Go into Quickbase regularly to review student hours for accuracy and provide quality benchmark assurance.
Assessment: Evaluate student work logs, journals, and portfolios to assess learning and growth.
Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to help students improve and develop their skills.
Supervision: Monitor student progress and provide guidance and support.
