Middletown Tube Works, Inc. was purchased from Armco Steel ( now known as AK Steel) in 1993 by the late Ralph Phillips.  Mr. Phillips and his team immediately streamlined the company to provide highly formable coated and non-coated welded steel tube for industries including HVAC, appliances and others.

In 1997, Middletown Tube Works entered the automotive market by offering tubing for the fuel filler application to several Tier 1 and 2 suppliers.

In the years following, Middletown Tube Works expanded its automotive footprint by shipping to Mexico, and later Europe, Australia and China.  In 2006, Middletown Tube Works upgraded its Quality system from QS 9000 to ISO/TS 16949 certified to better align with the needs of automotive.

The company also added new products to its automotive lineup, including seating components, exhaust components and fluid systems.

In 2009, following the passing of owner and founder Ralph Phillips, Angela Phillips became owner of all voting stock and moved up from VP to take over managing operations.  After this transition, the company received its WBENC certification in 2010.

As a company, Middletown Tube Works continues to grow as a business and its capabilities.  As some competitors cease operations, Middletown’s market share increases.
