AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC

A maintenance position involving mechanical skills required to repair gas and diesel motors and equipment units, vehicles and apparatus. Duties performed by the employee become increasingly more complex as new skills are learned. Employees work under general supervision using independent judgement after receiving instructions or general work orders with respect to the operating condition of a piece of equipment.
Position requires the necessary physical condition to perform heavy physical labor over a sustained period of time primarily indoors, periodic occasions outdoors; standing, walking, bending, and carrying heavyweight items (50-100 pounds) such as tools, equipment, and supplies.

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED with experience in repairing gas and diesel motors and equipment units, buses, vehicles, and apparatus. Applicants must possess a Valid Ohio Driver’s License. Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain a CDL with proper endorsements (Passenger bus with no-passenger restriction, Class A; combination vehicle and air brakes) and EPA 608 & 609 certification to comply with EPA regulations regarding the handling of Freon, within six months of probationary period.
