CDL Examiner

The CDL Examiner is responsible for scheduling, conducting, scoring, and reporting standardized knowledge and skills examinations to evaluate the skill and competence of commercial driver license (CDL) applicants.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be qualified for this position, applicants must possess:

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Five years licensed driving experience with at least three years as a commercial driver license holder;
• Current Ohio Class A Commercial Driver License with Tanker (N), Passenger (P), School Bus (S), and Double and Triple Trailer (T) endorsements or willing and able to obtain these endorsements;
• Current certification as a Third-Party CDL Examiner issued by the Ohio Department of Public Safety or willing and able to pursue this certification;
• Clean driving record;
• Effective and demonstrated problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;
• Interest in working with non-traditional adult learners;
• Willingness and demonstrated ability to work with applicants, coworkers, and administrators as a team member;
• History of strong work record, including good job attendance; and
• Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy
