We have a great opportunity for a Material Handler to join the Shipping & Receiving team at Michelman.  In this role, you will provide all shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities following International Standards Organization (ISO) procedures and in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other standard practices, in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Shuttle Driver- Ensuring all Shell Finished Goods are transferred to Americas Distribution Center in a timely manner, keeping Shell FG staging area clear of products
  • Material Handling – Perform all primary processes of the Material Handler position. Ensure that raw materials and finished goods are properly put away daily and that Michelman’s trailers are loaded in advance for transport to our distribution center.
  • Shipping – Match shipping documents/labels to today’s staged orders, verify accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and review sales order for customer (specific shipping notes in preparation for shipment); call LTL carriers and schedule pick-ups
  • Load Trucks – Understand safe and practical loading protocols given different trailer lengths, axle position, and container/product mix to assure that load is safe for OTR movement, HazMat regulations are met, and will, to the best of our knowledge, meet DOT axle weight requirements
  • Unload Trucks – Verify inbound shipment paperwork, unload with appropriate equipment and stage on dock, inspect for damage, and sign off on delivery paperwork; print RM labels and apply to each container, and deliver to appropriate inventory location
  • Enter Receipts – Enter necessary information into computer system, and create raw material labels with correct barcode and lot numbers
  • Finished Goods – Pull finished materials from Pack Line and deliver to appropriate inventory locations and ensure compliance with established good manufacturing practices.
  • Customer Relationships – Maintain high level of focus on the importance of customers and prospects and embrace customer/prospect focus throughout the organization, personally doing whatever is appropriate
  • Warehouse – Maintain cleanliness/organization of the warehouse
  • Quality – Ensure packaging presents a clean and professional appearance
  • Processes and Procedures – Stay current on, follow, and make recommendations for improvements to all shipping and receiving procedures
  • Order Accuracy - Provide final check of all products shipping to customers
  • Culture - Embrace and actively participate in a culture of accountability, communication and robust dialogue, including energy and urgency, having a little fun along the way

Other

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen and DOT certified random drug screen program
  • No more than one (1) major moving violation and no more than one (1) preventable accident in the past 12 months
  • No more than two (2) moving violations and no more than two (2) preventable accidents in the past 36 months
  • No DUI, OWI or DWI convictions in the past seven (7) years
  • No record of a felony conviction in the past seven (7) years
  • Not failed or refused a DOT drug screen in the past 36 months

Critical Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A valid Class A CDL and Hazmat Endorsement required
  • Basic understanding of computers and barcode scanners
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
  • Ability to think independently and hand projects through to completion
  • Proven ability to follow procedures and handle multiple tasks at the same time with a positive attitude and outcome
  • Flexibility- Ability to work at either one of Michelman Cincinnati facilities at a moment’s notice
  • Proven ability to think independently and resolve problems thoroughly and accurately
  • Proven ability to follow procedures, handle multiple tasks in a fast pace environment at the same time keeping a positive attitude and outcome

Education and Experience

  • A valid Class A CDL License
  • A current HazMat certification preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) years of experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 100lbs
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to pass Pulmonary Function Test
  • Must be able to operate forklift safely
  • Must show proficiency in the operation of all necessary equipment
  • Must be able to physically maneuver steel/fiber drums weighing 100 to 500lbs each on a daily basis
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail
