Job Description:
- A CNC Programmer’s job is to use software (MasterCAM) to generate machine code to control the movements of cutting tools and machining operations. The CNC Programmer is responsible for selecting the appropriate machining strategy, cutting tools, and machining parameters. Their responsibilities include:
- Use computer software to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
- Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.
- Consider tools required to cut different types of materials and program machines accordingly.
- Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.
- Determines reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
- Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.
- Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
- Writes program of machine instructions to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
- Interface with machine operators as needed to ensure optimum machine programming.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.

As a CNC Programmer for NNA, you will generate code to control CNC machine as outlined by shop paperwork, process documentation, engineering drawings, and quality requirements. Also, when applicable, you will identify cost reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in MasterCAM software
- Candidates must have strong attention to detail
- Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise.
- The ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
- Good analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Good written and oral communication skills
