Birchwood Care Center, a senior care center with Hillandale Communities, is seeking a Cook for a variety of shifts. Prior experience cooking in long-term care and/or a rehab setting is preferred. Must have the flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Our Cooks provide assistance in all dietary functions including:

  • Preparing resident meals as prescribed by daily menus and recipes
  • Adhering to documented standards for kitchen cleanliness and safety
  • Serving meals at the appropriate temperature with quality and presentation in mind
  • Assisting with set-up, service and clean-up of food production
  • Cleaning work area and equipment during and immediately after meal preparation and service according to established practice and regulatory inspection requirements

We are seeking applicants with:

  • One year or more of professional cooking experience, fine dining experience a plus
  • Knowledge of food safety preparation and handling
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Solid work history with excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to respect all members of the healthcare team
  • A positive attitude and passion for working with the elderly
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work scheduled weekends and holidays
