DRUG SCREEN TECHNICIAN

Basic Function

The Drug Screen Collector and BAT collects urine, saliva, hair, blood, & other specimen samples for drug and alcohol testing per Department of Transportation Urine Specimen Guidelines, 49 CFR, Part 40.

We provide training and certification.

 

 

Collects samples following Custody and Control Form(CCF) instructions and DOT Specimen Collection guidelines
Identification and completion of CCF (NON-DOT vs. DOT)
Understanding of clinic lab panels for send out
Maintenance of Specimen Lab log
Specimen Identification and count
Urinalysis (in-house and send-out)
Calibrates and Operates Equipment
Quality Assurance (per company protocol or clinic policies & procedures)
Goes over CCF to make sure all steps of the collection process were followed
Distributes CCF accordingly
Documents any abnormal collections and notifies floor supervisor
Obtains Authorization when necessary for other procedures
Drug Screen Collections (on the job trained and certified)

Point of collection Screen Tests
Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT – on the job trained and certified)
Administrative and Clerical
Patient Registration / Scheduling
Follow Through / Filing
Answers and screens phone calls
Adheres to clinic policies and procedures
Administrative use of forms and office supplies
Use of medical supplies
Use of laboratory supplies
Maintenance and Hauling of Hazardous Waste
Universal Precautions
Blood Borne Pathogens

Qualifications

1. Good communication skills (Bilingual in Spanish a plus)
2. Willingness to learn and utilize sales and marketing techniques.
4. Good attention to detail and ability to write clearly.
5. Compiling results of telephone calls.
6. Ability to use a personal computer.
7. Integrity, timeliness, and availability to work after hours if needed.
8. Reliable transportation
