Description
This instructor will teach Engineering courses to high school students. Topics to be taught may include engineering problem solving, research and design skills; mechanisms, energy, statics, materials, kinematics, 2- and 3-D modeling, and robotics. Some courses taught will provide students the opportunity to earn college credit; others will follow the Project Lead the Way model.
Job Requirements
Appropriate licensure/certification through the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) or ability to obtain proper licensure;
If current educator licensure not held, must be willing and able to complete Ohio’s alternative teacher licensure process, including university coursework
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an engineering-related field and two years of relevant work experience OR Bachelor’s or master’s degree outside the content area and five years of engineering-related work experience;
University transcript credits demonstrating ability to teach core content preferred;
Proficiency with 3-D Modeling Software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Revit, etc.) preferred;
Willingness/ability to complete the Project Lead the Way teacher pre-assessment;
Willingness/ability to complete at least one Project Lead the Way Summer Training Institute in the summer of 2020. (Butler Tech will provide registration information and cover costs.);
Willingness/ability to work with students, teachers and administrators as a team member;
Computer expertise appropriate to the position;
Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;
State-issued identification card with photograph;
History of strong work record, including good job attendance; and
Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy.
