Home Remodeler (Generalist 2)

Position Overview
Performs home repairs in five of the major skill areas (plumbing, heating, electric, carpentry, and roofing) with proficiency in at least three.
Essential Job Objectives:
 Perform home repair projects including installing new doors and windows, making structural
repairs to porches and decks. Roof repairs, plaster and drywall repairs. Installing new steps and railings, concrete repairs, and siding and gutter repairs.

 Understand and follow safety requirements for given tasks and tools.
 Meet time and budget estimates.
 Regularly train others in major skill areas.
 Responsible for equipment and materials assigned.
 Completely required recordkeeping in electronic format.
 Responsible for keeping our own tools and equipment in good repair; keeping the work area clean and safe.
 Work with customers to explain the scope of project, maintenance required, warranty information. Customers may have disabilities that make communication difficult.
 Work in a collaborative environment to solve problems and successfully complete projects. Position requires interacting with customers, building inspectors, sub-contractors and other employees.
Requirements/Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
 Experience demonstrating the ability to perform required home repair tasks as required.
 Driver’s license and dependable truck or van with ladder racks. Must have required insurance for vehicle.
 The ability to relate with people of diverse backgrounds.
 Work independently as a member of a team to accomplish tasks.
Education and/or Experience:

 High school diploma (or equivalent)
 Three years of related experience preferred

Other Skills/Abilities & Functions:
 Construction math skills (read tape measure, square, product or material instructions, workorders).
 Knowledge and understanding of residential construction codes.
 Knowledge of various building products and techniques.

Physical Demands:
 You must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
 Frequently lift to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
 Close and distant vision is required.
 Frequent standing, bending, grabbing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing walking, crawling, lifting of objects (up to 100 pounds), using hand and fingers, must be able to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms, and handling of materials.

Work Environment:
 Work in high and sometimes precarious places
 Work on uneven surfaces
 Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
 Works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxics or caustic chemicals.
