Inventory Control Clerk

Job Description

The Inventory Associate is responsible for accurately and efficiently processing orders, receiving, storing, and distributing inventory. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager and is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the warehouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.
• Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
• Provides inventory reports to purchasing manager.
• Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
• Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing manager.
• Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
• Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
• Operates forklift truck when necessary.
• Performs other related duties as requested.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
• Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to lift 50lbs. throughout the day; standing, bending, stooping, crouching, and walking are required throughout the day. Lifting and carrying items up to 50lbs. may be required at times throughout the day.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required;
• Previous experience in warehousing, distribution, or other related fields preferred.
• Forklift operator certification preferred
• Experience with computerized inventory systems required
