Description
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance and prompt repair of facility ammonia-based refrigeration and HVAC equipment. Responsible for upper level problem solving, support of team leads on complex or ongoing projects, and assisting in training of lower-level mechanics. 1. Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain refrigeration equipment and other plant machinery.
a. Resolves all maintenance and mechanical problems promptly with minimal disruption to production schedules.
b. Follows all lock-out, tag-out procedures.
c. Manages service and repair of refrigeration systems and equipment such as condensing units, compressors, and evaporators.
d. Understands and determines when and what type of maintenance is needed.
e. Manages outside contractors to perform repairs on failed machinery and equipment.
f. Understands the tools and equipment needed to do each job.
g. Works independently and repairs or troubleshoots machines and systems using necessary tools.
h. Monitors machine operations, gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machine is working properly.
i. Determines causes of operating errors and possesses ability to tell when something is likely to go wrong before downtime occurs.
j. Understands and competently troubleshoots PLCs.
k. Keeps up-to-date technically and applies new knowledge to the job.
l. Assists in training Level 1, 2 and 3 Maintenance Technicians in career advancement.
m. Ability troubleshoot electrical circuits (5 volts DC to 480 volt - 3 phase AC).
n. Inspects or tests damaged machine parts and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of needs for repair.
2. Completes maintenance recordkeeping.
a. Keeps record of all work performed.
b. Updates maintenance history logs and completes required paperwork.
c. Accounts for equipment used for maintenance and repairs.
3. Understands and follows the company GMP policy.
4. Understands and follows the company safety rules.
a. Cleans and maintains work area.
5. May be required to work overtime when emergencies arise and weekends.
6. May assume other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent certification
At least 2 years of industrial refrigeration and HVAC experience required
GCAP Ammonia Operator I or II and CARO license preferred
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations
Familiarity with OSHA PSM requirements for refrigeration systems.
Knowledge of how to read wiring schematics
Ability to speak, read, and write English
Good verbal and written communication skills
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
