Description
Meet resident needs by overseeing the overall social operations of the Memory Care Community while following state regulations and company policies and procedures. Encourages resident socialization and maintains safety and security of residents. Acts as liaison to families, community agencies and others directly involved with resident care. Assists care staff by attending to residents' needs.
Job Requirements
Works closely with resident care staff to provide specific memory care training to meet resident’s needs.
Coordinates with other staff such as dining services, life enrichment, and wellness to implement programs and life enhancement activities tailored for residents in all stages of dementia
Organizes and conducts support groups for residents, including bereavement groups and support groups for seniors experiencing depression.
Helps residents’ families understand the aging process and how it affects their health and life styles.
The Memory Care Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily lives of the residents and champion the resident care and programs, and share your knowledge through outreach and support to families.
Administer dementia programs to meet the individual needs and interests of residents, in accordance with company standards
Coordinate training and education of care staff regarding memory care programs/activities
Participate in pre-admission screenings of prospective new residents, as assigned by supervisor
Communicate positively with residents, families and community professionals regarding the memory care program and its benefits
The MCC is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, implementing and directing person-centered care programs and activities in Memory Care for residents with Alzheimer's and other related types of dementia. This individual will provide opportunities through a calendar of events that enhances physical, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and vocational needs of the residents. In addition, the MCC must train caregivers and volunteers in how to effectively adapt activities to promote active and successful resident participation.
The ideal candidate must be out-going and energetic, with the ability to encourage and motivate residents and staff to attend and participate in programs. Must possess the ability to get others excited and involved. Must be calm, patient, caring, and compassionate in dealing with residents, family and staff. Must have the desire and passion to work with seniors who have dementia in a senior housing environment, and be strongly committed to their well-being. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively and be well organized; as well as pay attention to detail, be able to take initiative and possess strong leadership skills.
