Description
This position is responsible for assisting Food Technologists with product development projects by following written and oral direction ensuring correct and accurate sample preparation and shipping as well as operating commercial kitchen laboratory and small pilot plant equipment properly and safely. Other responsibilities include weighing and measuring with accuracy recording data organizing product cuttings maintaining and organizing the kitchen s small wares and ingredient inventories cleaning and maintaining the R D space arranging for preventive as well as reactive maintenance . This position will occasionally be required to independently manage food preparation and serving to customers and other visitors and intra-department events. This position may also support Scientists Chefs Project Leaders R D managers and Directors; other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Education: Requires a minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Culinary and or Food Science education is preferred. Experience: 3 plus years work experience in Research and Product Development or a BS in Food Science area or one year minimum work experience in Tyson R D with 4 plus years in another technical area of Tyson Foods Inc. such as plant Quality Control technician QA lab technician productions lead or job that requires similar technical skills. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills required. Spreadsheet setup for data; email; scheduling; and weight and measurement conversions. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Special Skills: Must have the ability to contend with the range and complexity of kitchen issues and food production; must have a high level of integrity honesty and genuine hospitality; and ability to work with all levels of management in an organized manner to support Tyson R D success through good communication and teamwork skills. Must have basic mathematical skills especially with weight and measurement conversions. Physical Requirements: Standing - 90 ; Sitting - 10 ; Lifting - 20 to 70 pounds. This is done multiple times throughout the day every day; Pushing Pulling - 20 to 100 pounds. This is done multiple times throughout the day every day. This consists of moving supplies and products around the plant and kitchens on carts; Walking - approximately 30 yards from the kitchens to the plant. Technicians may walk this 5-10 times per day. This position requires the ability to climb stairs up to 23 steps 5-10 times per day. In some locations there are multiple plants which will require driving of personal car between locations as well as short local trips to pick up supplies. The position also requires occasional flexible time due to in-plant tests that may be on 1st or 2nd shift.
