Research & Development Assistant

FULL TIME POSITION

MONDAY-FRIDAY 7AM-3:30 PM

SUMMARY OF POSITION

To assist with various tasks essential to the Research & Development Department in achieving its objectives, related to products for Foxtail Foods distribution.

INTERNAL REPORTING RELATIONSHIP(S)

Reports directly to  Sr Manager Innovation, Product Development  & QA

EXTERNAL REPORTING RELATIONSHIP(S)

POSITION ACTIVITIES AND TASKS

• Assist in the development of new products to meet company’s and customer’s specifications.  Applies formulas to create product samples using kitchen laboratory equipment to create samples.
• Ability to work with scale to measure and weigh ingredients.  Calculates percentages and performs math applications. Documents and logs data; and takes notes.

• Determine necessary raw materials, packaging materials, equipment and production processes of new product formulation.
• Monitors projects and conducts staff conferences to keep department informed of current status of each project.  Ability to work on multiple projects and keep track of deadlines.

• Maintains inventory, cleans laboratory and gathers necessary supplies for product development team.
• Assist in scale up of new formulations in manufacturing, determining causes for problems encountered with new product development, new product production and eliminate new product rejections.

• Prepares and ships products for R&D, Sales team /external customers.

EDUCATION LEVEL REQUIRED

High Diploma or equivalent.
