Salary: $52,000 - $56,000
Nursing (Hamilton Campus): Simulation Coordinator to collaborate with faculty to provide for standardized and relevant student learning experiences to meet course, clinical, and laboratory objectives in the simulation lab. This position is based on the Hamilton Campus. In addition, simulation and lab support may also be required on Miami’s Oxford Campus. It is a full-time, nine-month appointment.
The Simulation Coordinator will:
- Design, develop, implement and evaluate scenarios, simulated learning activities and educational materials for all nursing courses in collaboration with nursing faculty, staff and other users of the simulation lab;
- Oversee orientation to the simulation environment and procedures for faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders to assure preparedness and standardization;
- Develop, implement, update, and monitor simulation lab policies, procedures, use, and operation; operate, trouble-shoot, and care for high-fidelity human simulators;
- Oversee scheduling and utilization of simulation spaces and equipment;
- Collaborate with Clinical Simulation Assistants to deliver simulation operational coverage for scheduled learning experiences;
- Develop, present, evaluate and refine scenarios for simulation experiences, utilize simulators, A/V technology, medical equipment and moulage to create a realistic learning environment;
- Coordinate, develop, and appropriately utilize standardized patients in the simulation environment and/or participates as a standardized patient during simulation scenarios;
- Develop and implement clinical simulation to meet accreditation standards;
- Create and maintain a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process;
- Perform data analysis to evaluate learning and satisfaction with the provision of services;
- Continuously update and refine simulation experiences based on identified needs and to serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities;
- Assist the Department Chair in the identification of needed simulation and laboratory equipment;
- Other activities as assigned by the Department Chair.
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; current Ohio registered nursing license or eligibility to obtain; two (2) years' experience in the field of clinical nursing; knowledge of appropriate technologies for simulation; proficiency with computer hardware and software applications, such as one or more of the following: PC and/or Mac computers and AV equipment.
Consideration may be given to candidates with a master's degree in Nursing; supervisory experience; experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds; high fidelity simulation experience and or certification (CHSE/CHSOS); excellent presentation and communication skills; demonstration of clinical competence and professionalism.
