Description
The Cincinnati Insurance Companies' Commercial Lines department is currently seeking candidates for an underwriting assistant class beginning February 2019. Underwriting assistants support underwriters in all aspects of renewal and post-issue transactions
Job Requirements
Responsibilities:
• underwrite and process smaller renewal policies
• apply knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans and guidelines in selection and pricing of individual risks and change requests
• ensure adequate pricing through proper classification, predictive modeling, accuracy of information and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophies
• support underwriting decisions on all other accounts through file preparation and documentation by gathering information and analyzing and evaluating risk exposure
• manage agency requests and communicate directly with the agency to gather needed information
• research and gather needed information in regards to coverage questions, state issues, workflows and refer to underwriter and team leader when necessary
• handle a rating territory in addition to the responsibilities listed above
• act as a resource for team assistants and help to strengthen their processing skills and assist with processing rating work as needed
• handle special projects and assignments as directed
Requirements:
• strong verbal and written communication skills to explain, persuade and present information
• the ability to multitask and the ability to prioritize work
• excellent attention to detail
• the ability to work independently and proactively in an orderly and timely manner
• highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
• the capacity to develop positive working relationships with team members and agents by working to find possible solutions and options that are beneficial to all
• proficiency in Microsoft® Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred
• AINS certification is preferred, but completion within three years of start date if selected for the position is also acceptable
Education:
• qualified candidates have earned an associate's or bachelor's degree
