Description
Job Summary: Welder is responsible for production welding, finishing, and assembling a variety of production assemblies such as vehicle and generator fuel and oil holding tanks, radiator mounting frames, and other related components.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work from instructions and prints to arrange parts into welding fixtures, clamp pieces into position and tack weld and/or apply finished weld.
- Select proper equipment, set voltage and wire feed settings to obtain proper strength and appearance.
- Handle assorted raw materials, steel parts, and steel scrap.
- Maintain work area and production equipment in clean and orderly condition. Follow all safety work rules.
- Perform work in a manner that all products conform to prescribed quality standards. Ability to interact with engineers to solve issues with drawings and/or parts.
- Perform incoming inspection, sorting, receiving of bar stock, pipe, rod material and welding supplies.
- Perform light maintenance on plant equipment where needed, i.e., startup/shutdown, and keep work environment clean.
- On occasion, cross-train and operate other production equipment such as: CNC laser, press brake, sheet metal roll former, spot welder, turret, rivet gun. This position will often vary in responsibilities throughout the work week and candidates are expected to be flexible in what work they are assigned and be willing to fill-in and fit-in to meet changing production needs.
- On occasion help in other departments when workload requires, performing assembly of components, inventory, parts picking, general labor, etc.
Attendance:
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position and regular reliable attendance is a must.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and overhead work. Employees have some exposure to fumes, glare and radiation of arc. The employee is occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Will work in a typical shop environment with machine noise and will be required to wear typical PPE.
Required Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Welding Degree/Diploma/Certificate
1+ years of welding experience
Aluminum and Stainless-Steel welding experience
Ability to safely and effectively operate welding equipment and tools
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with personnel and read and interpret documents, such as welding blueprints
Proficient with mathematical calculations and use of measuring devices
Knowledge and experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
Candidates currently enrolled in a technical school co-op or workforce training program will also be considered. This is a good position for such a candidate to gain industry experience and knowledge as part of their school training.
