RECREATION SUPERVISOR

SALARY $24.61 - $31.42 Hourly

The City of Blue Ash Recreation Center is looking for a dynamic and dedicated professional to manage our Fitness Center, Tennis Operations, and Climbing Wall.  We seek an individual who is adaptable, highly organized, and has strong communication, people, and customer service skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in fitness center management, staff leadership, and a passion for delivering exceptional recreational services. This position reports to the General Manager of Recreation Operations.

Examples of Duties

Leadership

• Cultivate a culture of teamwork, professional development, and exceptional customer service.
• Respond to member inquiries and resolve any concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Lead by example, ensuring top-tier maintenance, staff management, and member satisfaction across all recreational services.

Fitness Center Management 

• Oversee the daily operations of the fitness center, including inspecting, maintaining and purchasing equipment.
• Lead, manage and hire fitness team members, including the Group Fitness Coordinator, Personal Trainers and Fitness Aides.
• Collaborate with the Group Fitness Coordinator to design and implement fitness programs and events.
• Monitor industry trends and standards to ensure we remain competitive, relevant, and in tune with community needs.
• Maintain a visible presence to engage with members and guests, addressing their fitness-related questions.

Tennis Operations Management

• Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the tennis courts and equipment.
• Evaluate and assess tennis and pickleball programs to ensure they meet membership needs.
• Lead, manage and hire the tennis staff, including the Tennis Pro and seasonal program instructors.

Climbing Wall Management

• Oversee operations of the climbing wall, ensuring regular safety inspections and equipment upkeep.
• Lead, manage and hire the climbing wall staff, including the area supervisor, and Climbing Wall Monitors.

Typical Qualifications

• Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Kinesiology, or a related field
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team and promote a positive work culture.
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience managing fitness centers or similar recreational operations.
• Experience managing climbing wall and tennis operations preferred but not required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Experience in budgetary planning and management, ideally related to recreation and/or fitness related fields.
• Ability to perform some physical labor including but not limited to the ability to move weights and other fitness equipment as needed.
• Willingness to perform other Recreation Department related duties as assigned by supervisor.
